MVRPC Board of Directors elected the new Executive Committee and ISC Steering Committee for 2024-2025

Dayton, OH – Elections for the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission’s (MVRPC’s) Executive Committee and Institute for Livable & Equitable Communities Steering Committee were held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, following the regular monthly meeting. Members of the committee will serve one term, beginning April 2024 through March 2025.

The Executive Committee is a subset of the Board of Directors, appointed annually to work with the Executive Director on the overall direction of the agency, including budget and strategic goals.

The Officers of the Board of Directors for this term are as follows:

  • Chairperson: Sara Lommatzsch, Council member, City of Riverside
  • First Vice-Chairperson: Debborah Wallace, Trustee, Beavercreek Township
  • Second Vice-Chairperson: Robin I. Oda, Mayor, City of Troy
  • Third Vice-Chairperson: Larry Holmes, Commissioner, Darke County

MVRPC is pleased to welcome City of Riverside council member Sara Lommatzsch as chairperson of our Board of Directors and Executive Committee. A highly regarded leader for many years, Chairperson Lommatzsch has served on the MVRPC Board of Directors since 2014 and the Executive Committee for the past 4 years as 1st and 2nd Vice Chairperson.

“Chairperson Lommatzsch’s advocacy for essential projects such as US 35 in Montgomery and Greene counties resulted in her selection as Regional Steward and demonstrates that she will be an outstanding Chairperson" noted Brian O. Martin, AICP, Executive Director.

Ms. Lommatzsch originally represented Riverside on the MVRPC Board of Directors when it first became a city in 1995. Her experience garnered as council member, deputy mayor, membership on the Montgomery County Rural Planning Commission, and Riverside Planning Commission has prepared her for this role.

During the March Board meeting, the Board of Directors approved the amendment to the agency's Constitution and Bylaws, adding a third vice-chairperson to serve as the pending designation, Regional Transportation Planning Organization (RTPO) Officer delegate for the Commission.

The MVRPC Institute for Livable & Equitable Communities Steering Committee (ISC) is a leadership board comprised of representatives from MVRPC member organizations or Institute funders who provide oversight, guidance and advisory leadership to accomplish the mission and vision for the MVRPC ISC.

The Chairperson nominated for the ISC is City of Dayton Commissioner Matthew Joseph.

“Commissioner Joseph has been a member of The Institute for Livable & Equitable Communities since its formation. He has also served on MVRPC’s Board of Directors since 2006. His commitment to the betterment of our Region and this committee will prove valuable as he leads this committee,” stated Martin.

Established in 1964, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission promotes collaboration among communities, stakeholders, and residents to advance regional priorities.
