Community & Regional Planning

MVRPC’s Community & Regional Planning Program carries out various planning and GIS initiatives to promote consistency between future transportation infrastructure investment and land development, while protecting environmental resources.  In addition, we conduct planning research projects that examine interrelated demographic, social, and economic issues.

Planning topics cover both built and natural infrastructures and the types of planning activities include:

  • Best practices research
  • Data analysis and mapping
  • Community land use and comprehensive planning projects in partnership with local jurisdictions
  • Participation in various local planning committees
  • Development of Implementation Tools recommended by Going Places initiative

In addition, a five-member team with diverse expertise, extensive credentials and nearly 80 years of combined professional experiences provides planning and data services to member organizations for their successful planning and policy development efforts.
