The Regional Equity Initiative is a coordinated effort by MVRPC, member communities, and partners to strengthen the Miami Valley by correcting policies; reforming institutions; and closing the gaps that undermine, sustained quality of life improvements for underserved communities and vulnerable populations.
Understanding and addressing the issues of equity is essential to building a more resilient and sustainable Region. The Regional Equity Initiative was launched to focus on these issues. Its efforts have been informed by the Miami Valley Equity Regional Profile, which provided insights on the issue of equity in the Miami Valley Region and examines equity in terms of places, people, and their access to opportunity. The profile presents an analysis of equity at the regional and sub-regional level, including historical trends from 1980 to 2010, and a comprehensive look at equity for 2014.
The Regional Equity Initiative Subcommittee works within the Institute to serve as a coalition of regional stakeholders and local community members to pursue collaborative problem-solving on the equity-related issues impacting the advancement of a thriving region for all.
