Dayton, OH – The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission proudly unveiled a new logo and tagline during the Annual Spring Dinner on Wednesday to a crowd of 270 invited members and guests.

MVRPC’s Executive Director, Brian O. Martin, AICP, explained that “When redeveloping our logo and tagline, we focused on some important aspects of the agency. We wanted a message that more clearly expressed our areas of focus, the services we provide, and value we bring to the communities we serve. Emphasizing collaboration and partnership throughout our Region is our goal.”

The logo was designed by Hafenbrack Marketing & Public Relations. They garnered input from MVRPC’s Board members and staff, helping to articulate who we are, what we do, who we serve, and who we want to be. It incorporates 6 colors and varied shapes depicting the diversity of the Miami Valley. 

• Gold – represents the sun, a new day and our air quality planning efforts
• Green – represents the Earth, natural resources and our land use planning efforts
• Light Blue – represents our Region’s rivers, momentum for the future and our water quality planning efforts
• Burgundy – represents partnerships, communities – both urban and rural, one Region
• Coral – represents collaboration, integrity, diversity and innovation which defines the Miami Valley Region
• Navy Blue – represents the solid foundation on which MVRPC was established

Martin further explained, “From the Region’s bustling urban centers to our rural agricultural areas, the geographic landscape of our Region is as varied and dynamic as the people who call it home.  The logo illustrates the many connections MVRPC facilitates, whether connecting people with each other, connecting communities with the resources they need to improve quality of life, or securing funding for transportation projects that make a positive impact and connect different areas of our Region.” 

The new tagline – Shaping Our Region’s Future Together – emphasizes the collaborative spirit on which MVRPC was founded fifty years ago.  Established in 1964, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission promotes collaboration among communities, stakeholders, and residents to advance regional priorities.  MVRPC is a forum and resource where the Board of Directors identifies priorities, develops public policy and collaborative strategies to improve quality of life throughout the Miami Valley Region.  MVRPC performs various regional planning activities, including air quality, water quality, transportation, land use, research and GIS.  As the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), MVRPC is responsible for transportation planning in Greene, Miami and Montgomery Counties and parts of northern Warren County. MVRPC's areawide water quality planning designation encompasses five (5) counties: Darke, Preble plus the three MPO counties.
