Public Participation Meeting to be held regarding the FINAL DRAFT of the Miami Valley Bike Plan Update 2015

Dayton, OH - The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) will hold a Public Participation Meeting on the FINAL DRAFT of the Miami Valley Bike Plan Update 2015. MVRPC invites the public to comment on the plan for bicycle transportation for the Region.

The meeting will consist of an open house for attendees to review the FINAL DRAFT Plan document, policy and program recommendations, and maps of proposed bikeways. The FINAL DRAFT of the Miami Valley Bike Plan Update 2015 provides a review of the regional accomplishments drawn from recommendations of the original Comprehensive Local-Regional Bikeways Plan adopted in 2008. The Bike Plan Update 2015 describes the state of cycling and bike impacts on the Region currently with recommendations for future programs and policies. The emphasis of the plan is on creating a complete network of shared-use paths with connecting on-street bikeways. The FINAL DRAFT plan includes a new method for evaluating cycling facilities, a list of priority projects, and suggestions to improve the cycling climate of the Miami Valley Region.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, the FINAL DRAFT of the Miami Valley Bike Plan Update 2015 will also be available for public review on MVRPC’s web site at www.mvrpc.org/bike-plan-update  on or before Wednesday, August 12, 2015.  You can also review the list at the MVRPC offices, 10 N. Ludlow Street, Suite 700, Dayton, OH, 45402, during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday).  Written comments will be accepted through September 11, 2015, at the above address or via e-mail to Kjirsten Frank Hoppe, MVRPC’s Regional Planner, at kfrank.hoppe@mvrpc.org.

At all MVRPC public participation meetings, interpreters for hearing impaired individuals or bi-lingual interpreters are available upon request.  Requests should be made at least one week prior to the meeting date. Contact MVRPC at (937) 223-6323 or 1-800-750-0750 TTY/TDD to request an interpreter. Parking passes for the City Of Dayton’s Municipal Garage will be distributed at the meeting. The parking garage is located at 123 W. Third Street next to Dayton City Hall. There are numerous Greater Dayton RTA transit routes convenient to MVRPC offices on Courthouse Square including Wright Stop Plaza.

Established in 1964, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission promotes collaboration among communities, stakeholders, and residents to advance regional priorities. MVRPC is a forum and resource where the Board of Directors identifies priorities and develops public policy and collaborative strategies to improve quality of life throughout the Miami Valley Region.  MVRPC performs various regional planning activities, including air quality, water quality, transportation, land use, research and GIS. As the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), MVRPC is responsible for transportation planning in Greene, Miami and Montgomery Counties and parts of northern Warren County. MVRPC's areawide water quality planning designation encompasses five (5) counties: Darke, Preble plus the three MPO counties.
