Dayton, OH – Celebrate Earth Day 2018 with the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC), the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency (RAPCA), and ABC22 / FOX45. On Thursday, April 19, 2018, viewers are encouraged to call into the station’s phone bank, at (937) 262-1910, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., when local experts will be answering questions on air quality issues and providing tips on how to reduce air pollution. During the same call, viewers may register to win a prize pack of battery-powered yard equipment courtesy of Handyman-Ace Hardware valued at almost $200.
“This is a great opportunity to speak with air quality experts and have your questions answered. By taking steps to reduce air pollution every day, everyone can breathe a little easier and we all benefit,” remarked MVRPC’s Executive Director, Brian O. Martin, AICP.
MVRPC partners with the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency (RAPCA) on air quality issues. RAPCA is responsible for monitoring and reporting air quality readings in Montgomery, Greene, Miami and Clark Counties. On days when air pollution levels are forecasted to be high, MVRPC issues an Air Pollution Advisory (APA). It’s especially important on these days to modify your behavior to reduce air pollution.
