Using trees to improve vacant lot management and control related costs

MVRPC will be hosting a free session on how organizations and jurisdictions can improve the management of vacant lots, control related costs, and help the environment by planting native trees. This event is part of our Sustainability Roundtable series, where a panel of front-line experts share experiences and best practices.

Due to population and housing market changes, many jurisdictions in our Region are responsible for the maintenance of vacant lots.  These vacant properties can be a host for invasive species and unwanted activity, and can negatively impact neighboring property values. This session will focus on a positive strategy for repurposing these vacant lots as part of your urban tree canopy.  The session will include information presented by experts as well as an opportunity for you to provide your input.

The session will be held:

March 23, 2017
9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Lake Conference Room
Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission
10 N. Ludlow Street, Suite 700
Dayton, OH 45402-1855

The session is free, but preregistration is required.   Attendees are responsible for parking costs.

Panel members will include representatives of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, County Corps, Montgomery County Land Bank and the City of Dayton.  Please call Bob Steinbach at 937.531.6531 for more information.
