Please plan to join MVRPC on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 9 am for the 6th Annual Climate Planning Seminar. This year’s event will focus on the Energy Ready SolSmart program, as the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission works to support communities in the Miami Valley exploring SolSmart designation, and seeks a Bronze designation as a Regional Organization.
Our featured presentation will be a SolSmart training, beginning at 9:30 am:
Best Practices in Planning and Zoning for Solar PV.
In this training, experts from the SolSmart team discuss strategies for incorporating solar into plans, ordinances, and development regulations at the local level. This webinar provides a foundation that can help facilitate the growth of solar energy while balancing other development priorities in your community.
We are pleased to have Mr. Brian Ross, AICP, Vice President for Renewable Energy at the Great Plains Institute, join this seminar to lead this training. For over 30 years, Mr. Ross has worked extensively with local, regional, and state governments on climate and energy planning, renewable energy policy, and land use and natural resource regulation. Brian has written numerous model ordinances for local government and works nationally with the SolSmart program and other wind, solar, hydrogen, and electric vehicle initiatives.
Designed for municipal planning and zoning staff, this session is eligible for 1.5 American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification Maintenance (CM) credits.
Before and after the Planning and Zoning session, MVRPC will be sharing progress updates on:
- The Community Resilience Planning Toolkit
- Climate Pollution Reduction Planning
- Regional Energy Ready engagement
This year’s Seminar will be held virtually. Please register for the Seminar, and you will be provided the Zoom link for the session in the confirmation email following your registration.
