August 2017 Update

Open House Public Meeting to be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017
MVRPC invites you to attend the open house public meeting being held Tuesday, August 29, 2017. This open house meeting is part of the United States Department of Transportation’s Certification Review of MVRPC’s Metropolitan Transportation Planning Process. This is your chance to provide input regarding the Region’s transportation planning process. Each MVRPC department will be displaying information about recent plans and answering any questions you may have about the work of the agency. This is a great way to learn more about how our communities and residents work with MVRPC to SHAPE OUR REGION’s FUTURE TOGETHER.

We invite you to attend on Tuesday, August 29 anytime between 4pm - 5pm. Directions to the office and parking options are available on mvrpc.org/2017-certification-review. Five Rivers MetroParks River Corridor Planning Process
You’re invited to help shape the future of greater Dayton’s riverfronts! Community partners, including Five Rivers MetroParks, the City of Dayton, the Miami Conservancy District and more, are asking the public for their input during the development of a comprehensive 20-year master plan for 12 miles of river corridor in greater Downtown Dayton. This plan will harness the river corridors as a catalyst to bring communities together, and make Dayton a better place to live, work and play.
The open house-style format, of the upcoming public input meetings, gives the public a chance to move through a series of stations at their own pace. Drop in at any time during the meetings scheduled hours and provide your insight and feedback. Visit www.daytonriverfrontplan.org to learn more.

Federal Certification Review of MVRPC Planning Starts August 29th
Preparations are well under way for our review meetings with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), and local transit planning partners. These meetings, conducted every four years, are known as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Certification Review, and were last held in August 2013. The 2013 review resulted in five recommendations for improvement in our planning process. The most visible improvement was accessibility enhancements built into our website.

The meetings are conducted by a federal research team made up of Ohio and regional staff from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Since the state has oversight responsibilities on federal funds and applicable laws, ODOT central office and district staff will also be involved in the review. Review topics this period will include MVRPC’s conduct of the federal transportation planning process and products including the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), and Work Program. There will be a review of our conduct of Title VI and other federal laws and Executive Orders including Environmental Justice, Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE), and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Our Chairperson, Beavercreek Township Trustee Carol Graff, and MVRPC leadership will be in attendance during the meetings. Interested delegates, staff, and the public are welcome to attend the public meeting on August 29, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at MVRPC offices, 10 North Ludlow Street, Suite 700, Dayton, OH 45402.
