Dayton, OH – The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) is pleased to introduce two new profiles to our ongoing Regional Profile Series. The profiles present data and analyses on workforce and housing topics.  These profiles provide insight on where the Region stands and serve as a foundation for future planning, coordination, and project development efforts. Each profile has two elements: a print version and a dynamic, web-based profile. These profiles are the result of Going Places’ Implementation Tools and are available at https://www.mvrpc.org/regional-profiles.

The following summarizes the two profiles:

Miami Valley Workforce Regional Profile –The Miami Valley Region’s workforce is made up of people with diverse occupations. Influenced by the state and national economy, the Region has experienced dynamic occupational growth and decline over the last 12 years. This profile looks at our Region's workforce, and the occupations of our workforce, between 2004 and 2016.

Miami Valley Housing Regional Profile – The Miami Valley Region provides a wide range of affordable housing options. This profile takes a look at housing for 5+ counties in terms of household composition, home ownership, vacancy rates, types of housing, development trends, construction costs, building permit trends, and housing values and sale prices. The profile presents an analysis of housing at the regional and sub-regional level including historical trends from 1980 to 2010.

Established in 1964, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission promotes collaboration among communities, stakeholders, and residents to advance regional priorities.  MVRPC is a forum and resource where the Board of Directors identifies priorities and develops public policy and collaborative strategies to improve quality of life throughout the Miami Valley Region.  MVRPC performs various regional planning activities, including air quality, water quality, transportation, land use, research and GIS.  As the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), MVRPC is responsible for transportation planning in Greene, Miami and Montgomery Counties and parts of northern Warren County. MVRPC's areawide water quality planning designation encompasses five (5) counties: Darke, Preble plus the three MPO counties.
