MVRPC elected its 2018 - 2019 Executive Committee

Dayton, OH - Elections for the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission’s (MVRPC’s) Executive Committee were held on Thursday, March 1, 2018, following the regular monthly meeting.

MVRPC’s Executive Officers for 2018 - 2019 are as follows:

  • Chairperson - John O’Brien, Miami County Commission
  • First Vice-Chair - John Beals, City of Centerville 
  • Second Vice-Chair – Chris Mucher, Miami Township – Greene County

MVRPC’s 2018 - 2019 Executive Committee is now comprised of the following representatives:

“MVRPC is pleased to have Miami County Commissioner, John “Bud” O’Brien, serving as the chair of our Board of Directors. He was born and raised in the Miami Valley region and has been active in public service for many years,” remarked Brian O. Martin, AICP, Executive Director of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission.

O’Brien was elected Miami County Commissioner in November 2006. He is currently serving his third term in that office and serves on various boards and committees as commissioner. He was re-elected to his third term on the Miami County Commission in 2014 with 71% of the vote.

“MVRPC’s Executive Committee also welcomes the addition of John Bruns, Vice-Mayor of the City of Union; Brian Housh, President of Yellow Springs’ Village Council; Tony Klepacz, long-time Kettering City Council member; Roy Mann, President of the Jefferson Township Trustees; and Ron Thuma, Vice-President of the Monroe Township Trustees.  All 5 bring a wealth of regional knowledge to the table and I look forward to working closely with them,” Martin continued.

Established in 1964, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission promotes collaboration among communities, stakeholders, and residents to advance regional priorities.  MVRPC is a forum and resource where the Board of Directors identifies priorities, develops public policy and collaborative strategies to improve quality of life throughout the Miami Valley Region.  MVRPC performs various regional planning activities, including air quality, water quality, transportation, land use, research and GIS.  As the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), MVRPC is responsible for transportation planning in Greene, Miami and Montgomery Counties and parts of northern Warren County. MVRPC's areawide water quality planning designation encompasses five (5) counties: Darke, Preble plus the three MPO counties.
