Today, the League of American Bicyclists recognized the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) with a Bronze Level Bicycle-Friendly Business (BFBSM) award, joining more than 1,000 visionary businesses from across the country. With the announcement of 100 new and renewing BFBs today, MVRPC joins a cutting-edge group of more than 1,050 local businesses, government agencies and Fortune 500 companies in 47 states and Washington, D.C., that are transforming the American workplace.
“It’s very appropriate that MVRPC has received this designation. We have been at the forefront of transportation planning, and in particular bicycle planning, for decades. We understand the importance of incorporating bicycle-friendly business initiatives in the workplace so our employees can take advantage of this active transportation option, stated MVRPC’s Executive Director, Brian O. Martin, AICP. "This award also recognizes MVRPC's strengths as an ally of cyclists. As a sponsor of cycling events such as Bike- to-Work Day and the Drive Less Live More initiative, and as publisher of the popular, award-winning Miami Valley Ohio Bikeways Guide Map, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission has been a vocal advocate for the benefits of cycling. New partnerships with Bike Miami Valley will grow MVRPC's role in cycling in the years to come," continued Martin.
“The business community’s investment in bicycling is playing a central role in making the country a safer, happier, and more sustainable place to live and work,” said Amelia Neptune, League Bicycle-Friendly Business Program Manager. “We applaud this new round of businesses, including the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, for leading the charge in creating a bicycle-friendly America for everyone.”
