The Miami Valley Region has already experienced Air Pollution Advisories this summer and it is predicted there will be more. The Regional Air Pollution Control Agency (RAPCA) monitors the air in the area. If and when air pollution levels are forecasted to be high, an "Air Pollution Advisory" will be issued by MVRPC in conjunction with RAPCA. This means that residents of the area may be experiencing breathing difficulties especially vulnerable groups like children, the elderly and people with respiratory diseases and should reduce their time spent outdoors. Suggested actions you can take to help reduce your contribution to air pollution are things like refueling your car after 8 p.m. when the temperature is lower or use alternative transportation options like walking, biking or transit. Follow MVRPC on Facebook or Twitter to receive notifications about when advisories are issued. Learn more about Air Pollution Advisories and actions you can take by watching these videos below.
