During 2022, the RETREET program, part of Keep America Beautiful, led a coalition of local, regional, and national partners in planting trees in communities that were impacted by the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes, in partnership with Keep Ohio Beautiful, Keep Montgomery County Beautiful, The Dayton Foundation and Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission.A planting on Saturday, April 30, 2022, of more than 150 eight to ten feet tall trees, for impacted residents free of charge, were planted at the homes of families in Brookville, Perry Township, Clayton, Vandalia, Butler Township, and Trotwood.On Saturday, October 22, 2022, another planting was held with more than 150 eight to ten feet tall trees, at the homes of families in Trotwood, Harrison Township, and Old North Dayton. The Miami Valley TREEcovery Campaign could not have been possible without the support of numerous partners across the region, including The Dayton Foundation and AES Ohio.
