A total of eight member communities were awarded grants WITH CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS ANDranging from $10,000 - $20,000 to support joining the AARP Network of PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONSAge-Friendly States and Communities. The AARP Livable & Age-Friendly EXPAND OUR EXISTINGCommunities framework is a multi-year planning effort focused on recognizing PARTNERSHIPS WITHand enhancing age-friendly, livable aspects of your community. GOVERNMENTBeing a livable, age-friendly community benefits all ages. Age-Friendly communities are ideal places to live, work, raise a family, retire and age in place and promote projects and plans that foster diversity, equity and inclusion.These communities (labeled in red on the map) formed the Miami Valley Age-Friendly Network (MVAFN), becoming Ohios first age-friendly region and nearly doubling the age-friendly communities in Ohio.On May 5, 2022, the MVRPC Board of Directors voted to affirm the recommendation passed by the Institute Steering Committee for the MVRPC member organizations to receive the Livable, Age-Friendly Communities grants from The DMH-Dayton Fund at The Dayton Foundation.The plan was adopted by the MVRPC Board of Director on October 6, 2022.Map of Age-Friendly Communities.
